Schools

The SADA schools competition currently involves around 180 teams from public and private schools around metropolitan Adelaide. We aim to provide students with the maximum benefit from their involvement in debating. This can only be achieved when the competition has effective administration, adjudicators of a high quality who have training and experience, and an Executive who are debaters themselves and understand and respond to debaters needs.
  • We provide free debating training for staff and students of member schools.
  • We offer a series of Demonstration Debates and New Debaters’ Evenings for students who have never debated, and a Coach the Coaches/New Coordinators Session to assist staff, parent and student coaches, as well as introduce new school administrators to the workings of the competition.
  • We focus on education and improvement by providing detailed individual feedback to each student after every debate.
  • Our competition is centrally administrated by volunteers, keeping our costs low and meaning there is no burden on the schools to organise venues or adjudicators.
  • All of our adjudicators are tertiary students, graduates or professionals working in fields such as law and the public service who have passed an approved accreditation test, and their performance is consistently reviewed.
